El 1 - Cost Estimator/Analyst

The RoleAs an EL 1 level Cost Estimator, you will be joining a team of cost estimators to work on a variety of projects to develop life cycle cost estimates.
You will be responsible for building team capability and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within the work unit.
You will provide detailed advice in relation to highly complex work, contribute to strategic planning, program and project management, as well as design, and recommend solutions to issues affecting the achievement of desired outcomes.
Main ResponsibilitiesManage the successful delivery of cost models within scope, time and budget.Effectively manage all stakeholders both internal and external.Develop productive and effective relationships with subject matter experts and other government agencies.Provide support to the Directorate's business functions including, but not limited to, contract management activities, ensuring compliance with legislation and security protocols, information management, and process.About our TeamForce Structure Cost Analysis Directorate is the lead for generating the initial cost estimates for Defence projects prior to their entry in the Defence Integrated Investment Portfolio.
The Directorate's primary outcome is to provide robust, defensible cost estimates and their assurance to inform decisions about the prioritisation of future Defence Capability, Information and Communications Technology and Security and Estate projects.

Our Ideal CandidateAs a member of the Directorate, you will be working collaboratively with APS, military and contractor personnel to deliver cost estimation functions in support of future force design.

Has experience in project cost estimation.Has experience using cost estimation software including TruePlanning and ACEIT.Can apply, or rapidly acquire, understanding of broader Defence policy and strategic objectives, including the 2023 Defence Strategic Review, the 2024 National Defence Strategy and the 2024 Integrated Investment Program.Has outstanding time management and organisation skills.Ensures attention to detail.Has an ability to action tasks within tight deadlines.Promotes good working relationships and is a team member.Possesses excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.Has a demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary integrated workforce.A confident communicator, who is collaborative, agile and can effectively manage key stakeholder relationships. #J-18808-Ljbffr
