Landscape Architect (18-Month Contract)
Primary Purpose of the Position
This temporary 18-month contract opportunity is with Transport NSW to deliver the objectives of the 'reVITALise — Public Transport Precinct Vibrancy Grant.' The successful applicant will inspire others to value design excellence, placemaking, and liveability while embracing Council's mission to innovate and collaborate as a leading organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Manage projects under the reVITALise grant program, focusing on the delivery of quality urban spaces, including community-developed public art.
Participate in community consultation and prepare concept and detailed designs, tender documentation, and environmental assessments in collaboration with other Council departments.
Ensure all designs meet professional standards and comply with utility service providers and government authorities.
Prepare project briefs, timelines, deliverables, and contract documentation for external consultants in landscape design, playspace design, and public art projects.
Develop and document landscape masterplans for public exhibition, incorporating stakeholder consultations.
Present design ideas through graphics, sketches, and drawings.
Ensure design activities comply with CBC quality management systems and relevant policies.
Prepare presentation materials, correspondence, reports, and issue papers as needed.
Contribute to grant submissions, project development, and reporting.
Undertake additional tasks as required to meet the works program.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications
Qualifications in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or a related design field.
Current C Class Drivers Licence.
White Card.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of work experience in Landscape Architecture, or completed Masters in Landscape Architecture.
Experience or demonstrated skills in all stages of open space planning, open space design, playspace design, urban renewal, and environmental improvement projects.
High-level skills in design and documentation using AutoCAD, along with proficiency in relevant technology for presentation graphics and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Demonstrated high-quality written, graphic, and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of project management processes, including planning and programming, design and review, community engagement, procurement (RFQ and RFT), and construction techniques (managed by others).
Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, including Architects, Landscape Architects and Designers, Artists, Engineers, Contract Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and Contractors.
Strong interpersonal skills in negotiation, advocacy, consultation, and customer service.
AILA registered or eligible for registration with AILA.
Role Information
Project is Town Centre specific with a focus on urban design interventions.
Working from home available up to 2 days a week.

The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience in landscape architecture with a focus on urban design and public art.
Strong project management skills and the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage with the community and stakeholders.
Strong graphic presentation and design skills.
A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with a commitment to design excellence and innovation.
