The Mater Food Services team is currently searching for multiple Cooks to join their busy team on a casual basis, based at our South Brisbane campus.
Reporting to the Kitchen Supervisor, this important role will see you providing high volume meals for our patients and staff as a part of a very busy environment and a member of a supportive team.
Please note you may be required to work across the Mater South Brisbane, Redland, and Springfield sites.
Mater has been providing compassionate Health Care services for more than 100 years.
Now comprising a group of world-class private hospitals (including three hospitals which offer public health services), Mater provides care to some 500,000 people each year.
Contribute to the provision of high-quality food products for patients and buffet service.
Prepare and present hot and cold dishes using various cooking methods and kitchen equipment.
Follow portion sizes, recipes, cooking methods, and quality standards consistently.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the work area, including general kitchen cleaning duties.
Ensure stock control, labelling, handling, and rotation procedures are followed for food safety.
Work as part of a team to deliver food for patients within required time frames and at a high standard.
Adhere to health, hygiene, and safety guidelines and report any issues promptly.
Complete all training requirements and participate in meetings and performance appraisals.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Current (within the last 5 years) Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
Demonstrated experience in bulk food preparation including vegetable and dessert cooking.
Ability to read, follow and understand recipes and methods used for production.
Demonstrated experience with cook/chill processes.
Minimum 3 years previous experience in a health or similar setting.
Proficient in the application of computerised information systems and applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
