The Role
The Executive Director position is pivotal in driving the highest standard of service delivery for Mental Health, Alcohol, and Drug treatment programs across Queensland.
You will take the lead in shaping policy, spearheading innovative initiatives, and overseeing the execution of both state and national reforms in mental health and substance abuse treatment.
Additionally, you will guide the integration of cutting-edge data collection and reporting systems, ensuring that service delivery evolves in line with technological advancements.
Leveraging your strategic thinking, analytical prowess, and innovative approach, you will champion the development and refinement of Queensland's mental health and substance abuse treatment policies.
Your work will extend beyond Queensland, influencing national reform efforts in these critical areas.
The Successful Person Will Have the Following:
Extensive expertise in public health policy and a deep understanding of the Mental Health Act 2016, as well as contemporary mental health service delivery models.
Your ability to apply this knowledge to policy development and strategic initiatives will be crucial.A proven ability to analyse complex healthcare issues, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide innovative solutions that enhance service delivery.Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated capacity to influence and drive the implementation of complex health reforms at both state and national levels.Senior-level experience in managing and guiding multidisciplinary teams, particularly within the mental health sector, to achieve organizational objectives.In-depth knowledge of the broader public health system and the various political, socio-economic, and operational factors that influence the planning, funding, and delivery of mental health services.A track record of successfully leading large teams, including healthcare professionals, in achieving strategic goals and advancing service excellence.Qualifications / Registration and Requirements
Fellowship or progress towards Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators or the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatry would be highly regarded.Post graduate qualifications in public sector management would be highly regarded.The position requires the incumbent to travel frequently by air and road.
A current 'C' class driver's licence is essential.About Clinical Excellence Division
The role of the Clinical Excellence Queensland (CEQ) is to drive the patient safety, quality improvement and clinical improvement agendas for the Queensland health system.
It will achieve this by identifying, monitoring and promoting improvements in the quality of health services delivered by service providers (both Hospital and Health Services and private health facilities, globally and within Queensland), and support and facilitate the dissemination of best-practice clinical standards and processes that achieve better outcomes for patients.
The quality improvement agenda is actively supported by a significant research agenda.
The Division is also accountable for setting and supporting the direction for mental health, alcohol and other drug services in Queensland, as well monitoring and reporting on performance.Benefits of Working with the Department of Health:
