Mandatory Qualification/Requirements Admitted or eligible for immediate admission as a Barrister-at-Law or solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.'C' class driver's licence to undertake travel.On-call availability for out of hours emergency legal advice and support.Role specific/technical skills Expertise in the department's services in a court environment with the ability to litigate, negotiate, and provide legal advice in complex legal settings, particularly in child protection matters.
We are seeking one Legal Officer to work in the Labrador area.
Flexible work arrangements will be considered.
Key duties and responsibilities Deliver high quality independent legal and court services on behalf of the Queensland Government, including out of hours duties for urgent applications.Provide expert legal advice, support, and representation for CSSCs in emergency applications under the Child Protection Act 1999.Engage in preparation of court material for child protection applications and related matters like family law and human rights.Coordinate and represent in child protection related legal matters adhering to relevant legislation and policies.Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective legal service provision.Support departmental staff in court matters, including evidence preparation and local training initiatives.Collaborate with other legal officers to meet regional and state-wide priorities.Contribute to a culture supporting the vision and values of the Department.This position is aligned to the Individual Contributor profile of the Queensland Public Service Leadership competencies.
Successful candidates must demonstrate capability in the areas detailed within the Role Profile.
Delegations The position is an authorised officer under the Child Protection Act 1999 with statutory delegations.
Reports to a Senior Legal Officer.
