We are seeking a Manager, Preventative Inspections who will play a key leadership role to a team of field-based inspectors to design, lead and deliver audit programs in a regulatory environment that drive compliance to ensure the VBA meets its requirements as a Trusted Regulator.
Salary from: $152,773 per annum plus superannuation
Location: 242 Exhibition Street Melbourne office location & remote
Position Overview
An exciting permanent opportunity that will suit a seasoned people leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
The Manager, Preventative Inspections manages a team of field-based building and plumbing inspectors and other construction professionals who are focused on delivering effective, proactive inspections that ensure the VBA meets its requirements as a trusted regulator and that practitioners deliver quality and compliant work that protects consumers.
Reporting to the Head of Inspectorate, the Manager, Preventative Inspections will be critical in workforce planning, prioritisation and effective delegation.
Typically conducted at the pre-occupancy stage, inspections are informed by operational intelligence and their proactive nature aims to minimise impact to consumers.
What We Are Looking For:
Substantial experience to manage, lead and develop teams of geographically dispersed field-based Inspectors to performing audit and inspections.
Experience in the building and/or plumbing industry and an advanced knowledge of the Building and Plumbing Regulations 2018, regulatory frameworks, codes, regulation standards and Government Policy in Victoria and/or other Australian jurisdictions, including experience in the practical application of relevant legislation and regulations.
Demonstrated experience in conducting, designing, leading and delivering audit programs in a regulatory environment or demonstrated experience in compliance and enforcement operations.
Ability to produce high-level technical correspondence, briefs and reports in line with relevant legislation and participate in working groups to provide authoritative technical advice and knowledge to influence regulatory reform.
Experience in developing beneficial partnerships, including liaising with building industry stakeholders and technical specialists through participating in technical knowledge sharing within the context of regulatory requirements.
