Animal Facilities Officer - Temporary Full Time Roles Fraser Coast Regional Council – Hervey Bay QLD

What we are looking for: Due to internal progression, and in addition a temporary maternity leave coverage requirement (12 months) we are seeking two Animal Facilities Officers, to support council's direction for the Animal Facility and Adoption Centre by ensuring animal housing is maintained to a high standard and the care and welfare for all animals entering the facility is provided, in a timely and efficient manner, within a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
What your day will look like: Maintaining and cleaning of animal housing Feeding and watering of all animals Intake of animals Conduct health and suitability assessments – including temperament and behaviour Adhering to infectious disease control standards, including quarantining of animals Record keeping – encompassing animal movements, medical care, issuing impounding or compliance related documentation Processing of fees and charges Liaise with stakeholders including volunteers, staff, animal rescue groups and other internal council departments, build and maintain positive relationships. What you'll need for success: Certificate in Animal Welfare / Husbandry or equivalent working experience Demonstrated customer service experience High level of communication skills – ability to communicate with all levels of staff, volunteers, the public and community groups Problem solving, negotiation, ability to handle difficult conversations Resilience – ability to adapt to changing work environments, technology, and organisational needs Intermediate proficiency and computer literacy with council programs and Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated high level of expertise in a regulatory environment, including an advanced level of understanding and administration of relevant legislation and local laws associated with Animal Management.
