What we are looking for:Due to internal progression, and in addition a temporary maternity leave coverage requirement (12 months), we are seeking two Animal Facilities Officers to support council's direction for the Animal Facility and Adoption Centre by ensuring animal housing is maintained to a high standard and the care and welfare for all animals entering the facility is provided, in a timely and efficient manner, within a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
What your day will look like:Maintaining and cleaning of animal housingFeeding and watering of all animalsIntake of animalsConduct health and suitability assessments – including temperament and behaviourAdhering to infectious disease control standards, including quarantining of animalsRecord keeping – encompassing animal movements, medical care, issuing impounding or compliance related documentationProcessing of fees and chargesLiaise with stakeholders including volunteers, staff, animal rescue groups and other internal council departments, build and maintain positive relationships.Provide high level of customer service to the Fraser Coast Community and promote education and awareness in relation to keeping and control of animalsPlease click here to view a full position description.
What you'll need for success:Certificate in Animal Welfare / Husbandry or equivalent working experienceDemonstrated customer service experienceHigh level of communication skills – ability to communicate with all levels of staff, volunteers, the public and community groupsProblem solving, negotiation, ability to handle difficult conversationsExcellent time managementResilience – ability to adapt to changing work environments, technology, and organisational needsIntermediate proficiency and computer literacy with council programs and Microsoft Office Suite.Demonstrated high level of expertise in a regulatory environment, including an advanced level of understanding and administration of relevant legislation and local laws associated with Animal Management.Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus and Q Fever vaccinations or the ability to acquire before commencementBenefits of Working with CouncilCommitted to providing quality services to our community, we strongly support an inclusive and values driven culture, recognising your individual skills, knowledge and talent.
