A leading organisation in the mining and resources sector is seeking a Financial Accountant with a blend of financial and management accounting experience to join their Brisbane-based Finance team.
About the Role This role combines financial reporting and management accounting responsibilities, playing a pivotal part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing critical insights to support decision-making.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the business to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger, including month-end journals and reconciliations;Prepare schedules in compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., AASB16);Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements, audit documentation, and BAS returns;Support compliance and reporting for government surveys and other statutory requirements.Management Accounting: Conduct month-end cost reviews and variance analysis against forecasts;Contribute to the preparation of budgets and quarterly forecasts;Develop financial models and analysis to support proposals, projects, and operational decisions;Collaborate with operational teams to track and manage key cost drivers.What We're Looking For A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent);CA/CPA qualification or active progress towards certification;Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (Pronto knowledge advantageous).About You You are a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with the ability to balance technical expertise in financial accounting with a commercial mindset for management accounting.
Your strong analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively make you a valuable business partner.
