Financial Accountant | Mining - Resources Are you a versatile finance professional looking to leapfrog your career in a dynamic and fast-paced environment?
A leading organisation in the mining and resources sector is seeking a Financial Accountant with a blend of financial and management accounting experience to join their Brisbane-based Finance team.
About the RoleThis role combines financial reporting and management accounting responsibilities, playing a pivotal part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and providing critical insights to support decision-making.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the business to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting:
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger, including month-end journals and reconciliations; Prepare schedules in compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., AASB16); Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements, audit documentation, and BAS returns; Support compliance and reporting for government surveys and other statutory requirements.
Management Accounting:
Conduct month-end cost reviews and variance analysis against forecasts; Contribute to the preparation of budgets and quarterly forecasts; Develop financial models and analysis to support proposals, projects, and operational decisions; Collaborate with operational teams to track and manage key cost drivers.
What We're Looking For
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent); CA/CPA qualification or active progress towards certification; Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (Pronto knowledge advantageous).
About YouYou are a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with the ability to balance technical expertise in financial accounting with a commercial mindset for management accounting.
