We are representing a leading coal mining company headquartered in the CBD that is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their high-performing Brisbane-based team.
This role offers a unique blend of financial and management accounting, tax compliance, and business support responsibilities, providing exposure to both operational and corporate environments.
About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller and acting as their 2IC, the Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in delivering timely and accurate financial and management reporting.
This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with both corporate and operational teams, supporting strategic decision-making and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financial and management reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance; Oversee the general ledger, including journal entries and reconciliations for balance sheets and P&L; Work closely with operational teams, providing insights and analysis for decision-making; Manage key accounting areas such as IFRS16 leases, royalties, payroll accruals, and fixed assets; Lead budgeting, forecasting, and Life of Mine analysis; Handle tax compliance, including BAS, FBT, and income tax returns; Administer the ERP system, including master data maintenance and system controls; Prepare statutory disclosures and schedules for interim and year-end reporting; Conduct scenario modelling and identify trends, risks, and opportunities; Drive business process improvements and reporting enhancements.
About You
CA / CPA qualified with a degree in Finance or a related discipline; Advanced financial modelling skills and strong Excel fluency; Proficiency in ERP systems (Pronto experience advantageous); Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements; Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
