Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.The RCH is committed to the Child Safe Standards.RCH enjoys high employee engagement and is committed to staff safety and a positive culture through enactment of our Compact.About The RoleThis is a Fixed Term Full Time position covering Parental Leave from 23 February 2025 to 22 February 2026 within the Operating Theatres department.
You will be responsible for providing leadership to staff throughout the Operating Suite, to ensure that clinical practice and delivery of care provided by staff is consistent with The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian standards through comprehensive, safe and evidence-based practice to facilitate optimal health outcomes.
You will embed a culture of continuous improvement and a focus on quality outcomes and patient experience, which will be key to achieving excellence in customer service for both internal and external stakeholders.What You'll AchieveMaintain quality standards and excellence in clinical outcomes through evidence-based practice, research, education, and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.Develop and improve the Unit/Ward operations to ensure ongoing financial sustainability and service delivery efficiencies by managing the ward/unit budget, process improvements and implementation of strategic initiatives.Plan nursing care based on patient-family centred principles and in consultation with the multidisciplinary health care team.Promote and develop a dynamic, flexible, resilient, and skilled workforce through effective staff management and professional development opportunities.Your Skills And ExperienceCurrent registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP).Previous experience in paediatrics is desirable.Extensive years of nursing experience in a perioperative environment.If this sounds like you, click here to view the position description.About Operating TheatresThe RCH provides the full spectrum of paediatric surgical services for infants, children and adolescents across our busy 14 theatre operating suite.
Up to 20,000 procedures are performed per year in the perioperative department – a self-contained unit caring for children of all ages requiring elective or emergency surgery.
