WorkPac Health and Social Care are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for a permanent position within the largest correctional centre in Australia.
This is a state-of-the-art Correctional Facility in NSW and is located approximately 3.5 hours from Brisbane, 2.5 hours from the Gold Coast and 6 hours from Sydney. Job role: The key purpose of the Drug and Alcohol Nurse Practitioner is to provide assessment and intervention strategies to support and manage patients at an advanced and extended nursing level including but not limited to:
Providing care plans and prescribing in the drug and alcohol spaceAssessing and manage intoxication and withdrawal statesAct as a triage point for non-alcohol and other drug staffProvide a comprehensive and accurate health assessment for patientsUse analytical skills to assess physiological, psychological and social informationProvide leadership and advice to the nursing teamMonitor internal and external environment and influences to ensure health services are able to meet the changing needs of patient health care through strategic planningUse advance problem-solving strategies that influence, manage and coordinate patient careWrite prescriptions for patients for particular medications including the frequency and dosage where clinically relevantProvide care and guidance to patients when it comes to taking medication, as well as what side effects they may have, and any interactions that may take place with medication the patient is already takingProvide reports to the Health Services Manager when requestedActively participate in the centre's accreditation and quality improvement processesEnsure the patient has adequate explanation of the effects, consequences and alternatives of proposed treatment options and right to self determinationEvaluate the patient's progress towards expected outcomes in partnership with patients and the wider teamEnsure documentation is accurate, reflects the nursing assessment and maintains confidentiality of informationFacilitate patient's access to pharmacotherapy treatment where clinically indicatedInstigate appropriate treatment and referral in emergency situationsAct appropriately to protect oneself and others when faced with unexpected patient responses, confrontation, personal threat or other crises situations in collaboration with custodial staffAbout you: Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated contemporary advanced practice, expert clinical skills and knowledge in credentialed scope of practice and leadership capability enabling the delivery and support of high quality patient focused care in Addiction/Alcohol and other Drugs.Demonstrates the ability to apply specialised knowledge of contemporary advanced nursing practice and theory in credentialed scope of practice and to participate directly and indirectly in the delivery of clinical care.Demonstrates the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, open communication and a positive environment within and across the multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.Demonstrates the ability to educate, inform, counsel and support patients with contemporary clinical information at an advanced level relevant to patient's care and understanding.Applies knowledge of quality improvement frameworks and associated quality processes including the integration of contemporary nursing research to all clinical activities.Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and maintain professional relationships with all members of the healthcare team both internally and externally to the health service.Experience and Requirements: Minimum of 2 years in Australia as a qualified NPExperience in prescribing and administering S4 & S8 Medications (Methadone and Buvidal knowledge highly regarded)Venepuncture and Cannulation experienceCardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009, or equivalent)Experience using various electronic health information record systems (desirable)National Police Criminal History Check (or willing to obtain)Must have Full AU working rights (Permanent residents or AU Citizens only)Qualifications: Current unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Master of Nursing PracticeEndorsement by the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia (NMBA) to provide patient care in an advanced and extended clinical roleAdditional Information: Monday to Friday - Day shifts onlyUniform, ID, and meals provided on site6 weeks annual leave per yearTotal Remuneration Package (TRP) $177,470 per annumTRP includes shift penalties, allowances, loadings, and super @ 11.50%Support from the WorkPac team and training from experienced onsite ManagementUp to $5000 Relocation / Accommodation assistanceGreat location, and flexibility of a work life balance to allow you to explore the beaches, rivers, waterfalls, hiking spots and local cafesJob Variety - No two days are ever the sameIf this sounds like you, Apply Now OR alternatively reach out directly via the contact details below.
