The RoleAs the Community Development Officer, you will foster community development activities in accordance with CHL's Community Development Framework at the eastern housing estates, primarily Croydon and Wantirna.
Responsibilities include: Engaging closely with diverse communities and creating projects from community ideas, ensuring community ownership of projects.Establishing and maintaining weekly activities, such as community garden groups.Supporting monthly resident group with housing officer.Supporting annual fire drill evacuation training with CHL Assets Team.Establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with local community organisations.Support effective communication with colleagues across CHL about community development initiatives and outcomes.Participating collaboratively in CHL's community development peer support network and supervision.Providing additional appropriate support to wider team and organisation.This role is for one day a week and is a fixed term role until June 2025.
About YouTo be successful for this role, you will demonstrate experience in a similar role, including working in partnership and building relationships with community networks.
You will also apply project management methodology to achieve community development outcomes and use your knowledge and experience of the work area to develop solutions for day-to-day problems.
Required Skills: Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly within complex and diverse conversational contexts.Excellent time management including high level administration and coordination skills.A positive attitude when working towards achieving deliverables, including a passion for using your initiative, innovation and creativity.The ability to work independently as part of a wider team and adapt in a fast-paced environment.A commitment to the right of all people to affordable and sustainable housing.Please note that satisfactory police check is required for all staff and those with client related responsibilities are required to provide a NDIS and Working with Children Check (WWCC).
