This role offers the opportunity to work closely with both internal and external clients, providing financial expertise and solutions that drive sustainable growth.
The successful candidate will have the chance to represent the company at meetings of alliance partners and clients among both SMEs and large firms, delivering public presentations where required.
What you'll do:
As a Senior Economist, your role will be pivotal in undertaking complex economic analysis related to our client's risk assessment process.
You will be focusing particularly on credit exposures in emerging and frontier markets.
Your responsibilities will include:
Undertake country risk assessment in support of underwriting and risk managementAssume responsibility for commodity forecasts, forecasting methods and views on commodity marketsUndertake economic and political economy analysis in support of business planning and marketingMaintain effective relationships with government and private sector intelligence sourcesPrepare global economic scenarios and test plausible deteriorations in the risk environmentComply with and implement policies and proceduresIdentify, manage and comply with obligations arising under statute, regulations, the general law, and industry codes or guidelines relevant to the division/groupWhat you bring:
The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in economics along with a proven track record demonstrating sound judgement.
You should have a firm grasp of the principles of economics, both micro and macro.
Excellent communication skills are essential for this role as you will need to effectively communicate complex economic concepts to various internal and external clients.
A degree in Economics at Honours level or higherAt least 8 years work experience as an economist with demonstrated sound judgementExperience within a government or commercial environment i.e.
Banking/Treasury relatedFirm grasp of the principles of economics, both micro and macroExcellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation skillsExperience in statistical analysis and economic forecasting / scenario stress testingAbility to tailor analysis to the differing needs of various internal and external clientsGood understanding of international economic institutionsWhat sets this company apart:
