Norwood Secondary College, in Byron Street Ringwood, is a single campus coeducational college with an enrolment limit of approximately 1100 students.
Students come from a wide geographic area, covering up to 35 feeder primary schools.
It has a very high reputation in the community, particularly with regard to student endeavour in academic results, sport, music and student leadership.
A very high percentage of students stay to complete their VCE and gain entry to their first preferences to university, TAFE or a vocation of their choice.
The school offers VM for a limited number of selected students in Years 11 and 12.
An enrichment class operates for selected, high achieving students in Years 7 to 9.
Students are encouraged to study a VCE subject in Year 10 and a Unit 3/4 in Year 11.
Some students also undertake university studies during their Year 12.
The school offers an extensive camps and excursions program specifically designed for each year level, and comprehensive leadership development opportunities at each year level.
An active Student Representative Council meets regularly and gives further opportunities for many students to develop leadership skills.
The College has a long history of sporting tradition and an excellent sporting program.

Selection Criteria Relevant Skills and Experience: Demonstrated skills and experience necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, including appropriate qualifications, technical skills, and expertise.
For example, registration with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse with relevant experience.
Proficiency in Office Systems: Demonstrated proficiency in the use of office systems, software, or technical equipment relevant to the position, such as CASES21 and Compass.
Collaborative Work Capacity: Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse range of individuals, including teachers, education support staff, students, and parents.
Health Emergency Management Experience: Experience in managing health emergencies in a school setting or other relevant settings, with transferable skills.

Role The Registered Nurse range 4 promotes the optimal health, wellbeing, and development of students in a school setting.
Through a focus on one or more of the following, the Registered Nurse:
Demonstrates high levels of autonomous and independent practice within the school setting.
Provides timely, high-quality and evidence-based primary health care to students.
Undertakes comprehensive health assessments, plans and evaluates ongoing care to promote
the health, wellbeing, and development of individual students.
Develops, implements and evaluates health education and promotion programs in response
to identified health priorities in schools and in collaboration with school community
Actively promotes primary health care within the education curriculum.
Makes nursing interventions which promote optimal student health in the following areas:
alcohol and other drugs; safe environments; mental health and wellbeing; sexual health and
wellbeing; physical health and wellbeing, and healthy eating and wellbeing.
Makes early identification, timely intervention and referral for students and families at risk or
Where clinically indicated, conducts health and development assessments on all school
entrants with the consent of parents or guardians.
Contributes as an integral member of the student health and wellbeing team to promote a
social view of health.
Communicates effectively with students, their families, the school community and with other
health practitioners and service providers.
Provides health advice and acts as a clinical resource to the school community.
Recognises where it is appropriate to make referrals to health practitioners, and to other
service providers to meet the individual healthcare needs of students.
Facilitates links between the school community and relevant primary health care services.
Delivers individual health counselling to meet the health care needs of individual students and
to promote their optimal health and wellbeing.
Responsibilities Provide timely healthcare to the school community by being on duty in the health centre/first aid room during school hours.
Maintain accurate records of treatment, attendance, and illnesses on the school data base and EduSafe as required.
Conduct health assessments of students and contribute to the development of individual management plans for students with complex health needs.
Communicate student medical issues to relevant stakeholders, including school staff and parents.
Liaise appropriately with parent/carers when a student needs to be collected from the school.
Report any concerns regarding student welfare to the Student Wellbeing team.
Ensure the Health Centre is kept clean and hygienic, and that necessary medications and first aid supplies are available, properly stored, and accounted for.
Serve as the school anaphylaxis supervisor, present anaphylaxis briefings to staff, maintain records related to anaphylaxis, and assess staff competency in using adrenaline auto-injectors.
Develop, implement, and evaluate first aid processes for school events.
Attend school events as necessary to provide first aid support.
Contribute to decision-making processes, policy development, and program implementation as required.
Organise and supervise vaccination/immunization programs for Year 7 and Year 10 students.
Maintain records of staff qualifications in first aid, anaphylaxis, asthma, and diabetes, and organise related training as needed.
Regularly review department publications regarding health requirements, such as those for students playing sports, notifiable diseases, and exclusions.
Assist with other duties as required, commensurate with those of a member of the Education Support team.

Current registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority.
Current Victorina Working with Children Check.
Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
