Company Description Established in 2007, Griffith University's Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing (WOW) has more than 45 core academic staff, with research expertise in diversity at work; employee voice at work; emotion at work; managing change at work; the future of work; and wellbeing at work.
Using rigorous, theoretically informed empirical research, our members continue to bridge the gap between organisational behaviour, wellbeing and workplace research, practice and policy at local, national and international levels to effect positive change.
Job Description Workplace sexual harassment is a significant issue in Australia, costing our economy more than $3.5 billion each year.
Sexual harassment disrupts business operations and slows down progress in achieving gender equality at work.
Traditional prevention methods include policies, training, and reporting, which focus on the behaviour itself without addressing its root causes.
This misdirection of effort is a major reason why the problem persists.
Our team has been awarded funding for an ARC Linkage Project that will learn more about the origins of sexual harassment in the organisational system, looking deeper into aspects like organisational culture, social dynamics, job and task characteristics, technology, and the physical work environment.
By gaining a richer understanding of these risk factors, we will develop new evidence-based prevention strategies.
Our research will provide valuable insights into where and how to intervene to change the organisational systems in which sexual harassment occurs.
Griffith University's Centre for Work, Organisation & Wellbeing is looking for a passionate PhD candidate looking at building a career in employment equity and diversity and is concerned about workplace sexual harassment.
The successful applicant will be enrolled at the Nathan campus.
Qualifications The selection of applicants for the award of higher degree research scholarships at Griffith University involves consideration of your academic merit and research background.
To be successful in this role, you must have a passion to improve the workplace culture in Australia, hold an honours degree in psychology or related discipline and an interest in addressing complex organisational challenges.
Expressions of interest are welcome from domestic applications Applicants must have completed, or expect to complete, a bachelors degree with honours equivalent to first class honours or a Masters degree (AQF Level 9) incorporating a significant research component of a standard comparable to a bachelor honours degree or be regarded by Griffith University as having an equivalent level of attainment in accordance with Schedule One of the HDR Scholarship Procedure.

Additional Information About the scholarship This ARC Grant funded PhD Scholarship has an annual stipend of $34,752 for a period of up to 3 years of full-time study.
