About the role
The Health Services Branch provides a range of primary care services across WA to patients in custody.
Services encompass interventions to identify and manage acute and chronic conditions and referral to specialist and tertiary services.
Population focused health improvement initiatives are also provided including health protection; disease prevention; infection control; communicable disease outbreak management; and immunisation.
The Health Services Branch ensures that clinical effectiveness, consumer focus and quality improvement are embedded to assist DCS provide high quality, cost effective, safe, and patient centred care.
Under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse, the Medication Assistant is responsible for the administration of individually dispensed pre-packed medications to patients.
In addition, the Medication Assistant maintains stock control for specific pharmaceuticals in compliance with the facility policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
Role specific responsibilities :
Medication Administration Quality Improvement Teamwork Ethical Behaviour Equity, Diversity and Occupational Safety and Health Other duties as required in accordance with strategic objectives, business plans, local workload priorities and performance management plans.
Eligibility
Permanent positions – To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
WWC positions – In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, you must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
