THE ROLE - 12 month contract. The Health and Wellbeing Specialist (HWS) will play a pivotal role in delivering health and wellbeing initiatives across a diverse workforce. Working autonomously, you will apply advanced clinical knowledge, health assessment skills, and provide educated interventions to support the overall health and wellbeing of workers. This role will also contribute to the Occupational Health and Hygiene program by managing health surveillance and ensuring compliance.
Based in Brisbane, with occasional travel to sites, the role focuses on managing both work-related and non-work-related injury interventions, building strong relationships with medical practitioners, and supporting the health needs of the workforce. You will actively collaborate with key stakeholders to implement comprehensive health and wellbeing programs aimed at fostering a healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and implement proactive health and wellbeing initiatives to improve workers' overall health.Provide expert health advice and facilitate early interventions for injured workers.Support the Occupational Health and Hygiene program through health surveillance and monitoring.Develop and maintain health management plans and ensure accurate record-keeping.Establish strong relationships with medical practitioners and key stakeholders.Monitor and deliver site-based fitness-for-duty programs, including drug and alcohol testing, fatigue management, and managing psychological and physical impairments.Facilitate health education and awareness sessions across various sites or through online platforms.EXPERIENCE FOR SUCCESS Relevant qualifications in health (e.g., Bachelor of Nursing Studies, Occupational Hygienist, or Paramedic).Certification in Rehabilitation & Return to Work and Drug & Alcohol Testing.Over 5 years of experience in occupational health within heavy industry operations.Extensive knowledge of WHS legislation, return-to-work processes, and WorkCover claims management.Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with a focus on time management and prioritisation.Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide detailed reports and maintain confidentiality.Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality health services and education programs.Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable).APPLY This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Health and Wellbeing Specialist to lead impactful health initiatives and support the wellbeing of employees across multiple sites.
