Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead COBOL Developer and Technical Consultant to join our team.
In this critical role, you will provide our clients with hands-on coding expertise, technical guidance and support, ensuring their COBOL applications' optimal performance and reliability.
As a Lead COBOL Developer, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and recommendations on COBOL development best practices, performance optimisation, and modernisation strategies.
You will diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, collaborating with clients to identify effective solutions.
You will also lead and contribute to COBOL development projects, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
Additionally, you will share your knowledge and expertise with clients through training sessions, documentation, and mentoring.
Finally, you will stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in the COBOL landscape.

Qualifications Experience as a Senior / Lead Developer Core COBOL: Strong proficiency in COBOL programming, including syntax, data structures, and file handling Mainframe Technologies: Extensive experience with mainframe environments (z/OS), JCL, VSAM, CICS, and PL/I Database Management: Solid understanding of database concepts, SQL, IDMS, and IBM Db2 Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., REXX, Python) Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and in collaborative teams Client-facing: Strong client-facing skills and ability to build rapport Additional Information .
