A full range of paediatrics and adolescent health services are provided plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW, and other states around Australia and overseas.

Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations, and 20,000 elective surgeries.

About the Role:
This is a Permanent Full Time position.
In this role you will provide skilled assistance to medical staff for the safe administration of anaesthesia or sedation as specified in document PS08 2012 (ANZCA) - (recommendations on the Assistant for the Anaesthetist).
You will also ensure all equipment pertaining to the administration of anaesthesia is correctly maintained, checked, and available for use while working in partnership with Medical, Nursing, and Allied Health Colleagues to ensure best outcomes for our patients.
What you'll achieve:
You will plan and prepare the anaesthetic environment according to patient, anaesthetic, and surgical requirements, including the setup of anaesthetic and monitoring equipment and ensuring that equipment functions effectively.
You will provide high quality technical support and clinical assistance during induction, maintenance, and emergence for all forms of anaesthesia and sedation or procedure the Anaesthetist is associated with - both within and outside the perioperative environment e.g.
Medical Imaging & offsite locations including RMH & Peter McCallum Hospital.
You will work effectively as part of a team by providing support and assistance to all members of the perioperative team, recognising that the effective management of theatres depends on effective communication.
Classifications for this position will range from TF1Z and TF7Z (base salary $72,662.20 to $85,912.32 per annum, plus superannuation)
Your skills and experience:
Ability to work well under pressure and to be flexible to changing priorities Comprehensive knowledge of specialist equipment used by the Anaesthetist and can operate with a high degree of accountability and autonomy Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills - both verbal and written What we offer:
