An opportunity currently exists for a fixed-term temporary placement in the role of Manager, State Land & Stock Route Management within the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development.
This is a key strategic and operational leadership role in the Natural Resource Management and Compliance team and a member of the leadership group.
Operating from within the Natural Resource Operations Group within the Lands Division, you will be an integral leader and team member of the State Land and Stock Routes Management team, providing high-level advice, leadership, negotiation, and consultation skills to influence statewide delivery and programs.

About the role:In this role you will:
Lead a team to deliver high-quality, outcomes-focused client services in line with departmental strategic priorities.Work with senior staff and other professional experts to resolve highly complex and high-risk dealings which have cross regulatory and organisational implications.Lead state-wide projects and business forums, collaborating with industry partners, collaborators, and clients to negotiate and deliver projects that align with the Department's strategic and operational objectives.Lead and manage a team undertaking major state-wide projects providing direction and guidance to staff and project team members to achieve positive outcomes.Monitor the business environment for critical impacts on the department and opportunities for SL&SRM service delivery providing sound and timely advice to address issues and ensure work outputs for projects on a state-wide basis.Provide operational and strategic advice, including the preparation and review of reports, briefing notes and submissions, to senior departmental officers.Conduct high-level negotiations with major clients and stakeholders.Exercise delegated authority under legislation in accordance with sound administrative decision-making principles and taking into account risk, appropriately briefing on sensitive issues where necessary.Develop and manage budgets, business plans and workforce capability plans for the State Land Management and Stock Routes business areas.Lead the implementation of business renewal.Identify and manage risk in operational service delivery.Undertake workforce planning to lead the delivery of client services in anticipation of changes in the department's business and priorities.This position requires:
Travel outside normal working hours may be required.
