Depending on the role, you will:Engage with industry and experts to inform the design and implementation of policies to establish Australia as a green metals powerhouse, as part of the Government's Future Made in Australia agendaUndertake policy development, initiative design and implementation, coordinate across agencies, and consult with industry and state and territory governments to help support the growth of a competitive, diverse and sustainable Australian battery manufacturing industryWork across government and industry to support the operations and oversight of the National Reconstruction Fund, and the development and implementation of the Future Made in Australia AgendaDeliver strategic industry policy advice and transitional support, shaping manufacturing policy, including in Rail, Medtech, Food and BeverageShape Australia's building and construction policy, including providing support for the Minister for Industry and Science in his role as Chair of the Building Ministers' MeetingWork across government and industry to develop and deliver two net zero sector development plans to inform the Government's Net Zero 2050 Plan, and 2035 Net Zero Target (the Industrial Net Zero Plan and Built Environment Net Zero Plan)Deliver the National Rail Manufacturing PlanProvide advice to government on key enablers of industrial development and decarbonisation such as biotechnologies, circular economy opportunities and industrial energy systemsSupport the actions of the National Battery Strategy, including codesigning the Battery Breakthrough Initiative with the program delivery agency, ARENAShape and develop domestic and international battery industry policy, requiring engagement with the battery industry, collaboration across the Commonwealth and State/territory governments and with other experts.We work closely with government agencies (e.g., PM&C, the Treasury, Finance DCCEEW, DITRDCA, Health, DAFF, the Net Zero Economy Agency, and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency) industry, academia, peak bodies and associations and the public.EligibilityA degree or significant experience in a relevant field is highly desirable.
Relevant fields include (but are not limited to): economics; industry and innovation policy; public policy; national security, finance; law; commerce; econometrics; data science; stakeholder management; communication; program and project delivery; governance and secretariat support; or subject matter expertise (e.g.
qualifications in relevant STEM fields, including chemical engineering).Relevant experience working in or closely with industry would be highly regarded.
