Geotechnical Engineer

23rd August, 2024 Our Client, a world leading Tier 1 Iron Ore Producer based in the Pilbara is currently seeking a dynamic Geotechnical Engineer to join their Geoscience team on an 8/6 roster, FIFO Perth.
This is a contract role and will continue for the remainder of this year until February next year.
Reporting to the Superintendent Geotechnical Engineer while working in a challenging and exciting environment.
To be successful you will need to work closely with many internal and external stakeholders (including Resource Development and Operations).
Responsibilities Conduct Frequent pits slope, waste dump and stockpile stability and conformance inspections. Implement and monitor slope monitoring instrumentation including Radars, Auto prisms, inground monitoring instruments, and VWP and standpipes. Provide Geotechnical input into blast designs and bench conformance. Complete Geotechnical reconciliation to block models. Maintain/update Geotechnical Hazard and slope monitoring programs. Have regular engagement with site based operational teams and technical specialists within the Mine Engineering and Geoscience teams. Skills and Experience Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or Geology) preferred. Knowledge of Geotechnical Logging Methodology is essential. Strong team player. Excellent communication skills and drive for continuous improvement. A Strong safety mindset. Iron Ore experience and knowledgeable in Pilbara Geology is preferred. Current WA Manual "C Class" Australian Licence (minimum). Able to work independently. Experience in the resource industry preferable. Oil & gas or civil background will be considered (crossover).
