Executive Director, Funding and System Performance The Department of Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader for the new role of Executive Director, Funding and System Performance.
This pivotal position involves strategic oversight of healthcare funding and performance data to optimise revenue and enhance system efficiency.
This is a 6 Month Temporary Opportunity.
The role
The Executive Director, Funding and System Performance, is a critical leadership position within the System Performance, Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance Division.
This role is responsible for providing expert guidance and strategic oversight in the development and implementation of plans to optimise revenue for the State of Queensland.
The Executive Director will ensure the effective application of the National Health Reform Agreement (NHRA) and contemporary healthcare purchasing models.
This includes capturing and analysing performance data to support system performance and reporting.
The role involves advancing patient costing developments, refining the Weighted Activity Unit (WAU) model, and overseeing submissions and associated reporting.
Additionally, the Executive Director will lead the evaluation of public health system performance, identify future trends, and guide performance modeling and purchasing decisions.
This position requires collaboration with Hospital and Health Services (HHS) to achieve performance objectives through precise patient record coding, accurate patient activity capture, and reliable forecasting of purchased activity delivery.
The Executive Director will also support funding negotiations at both national and state levels, ensuring the State's strategic funding goals are met effectively.

Essential Requirements:
Expertise in healthcare funding and performance management methodologies.
Experience in supporting healthcare reform and best-practice healthcare purchasing.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and governance principles.
Ability to evaluate public health system performance and identify trends.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including with HHS, government departments, and national bodies.
Strategic leadership and advice on healthcare purchasing and funding.
About Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance Division
The Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance (HPSP) Division purchases public health and social services from service providers to optimise health gains, reduce inequalities, and maximise the health system's efficiency and effectiveness.
HPSP ensures health funding is used effectively to meet government priorities and achieve performance objectives outlined in agreements and contracts arising from purchasing decisions.
As part of the commissioning role, the Division has responsibility for investing nearly $18 billion on behalf of the State and managing community services contracts to the value of approximately $280 million.
