We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners.The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital's catchment area since 1919.
Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services, in-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics, and supportive diagnostic services.
The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.Hospital services include:Emergency, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Units (December 2007)Maternal/Newborn UnitDiabetes/Nutrition CounselingSpeech-LanguagePhysiotherapyBreast Health CentreFully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, pediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.Hospital services include:Emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverageRehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathologyMultiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local serviceAffiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locallyMany community health related education programsFully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.Position: Occupational TherapistRegion: Huron and PerthDescription: The Occupational Therapist is part of the multidisciplinary care team, providing comprehensive assessment and treatment to both inpatients and outpatients.
Specifically, the OT brings a holistic approach to analyze cognitive-perceptual, physical and emotional aspects of the patient as well as their social and physical environment.
The goal of the OT intervention (inpatients) includes facilitating ability to function in the most independent discharge destination that is appropriate, as well as assisting in identifying that setting.
The OT also provides highly specialized hand therapy services within the constraints of the outpatient setting to maximize recovery from injury and functional return.This is a full-time position that is anticipated to begin on September 4, 2024.
The successful candidate will be available Monday through Friday during normal business hours.Responsibilities:Inpatient assessment and treatment – specifically including cognitive perceptual impairments, upper extremity function, ADL's and IADL potential, mobility and ambulation equipment.Maintain appropriate documentation in patient chart.Interdisciplinary and family consultation and collaboration.Wheelchair prescription and assignment for in-hospital use.Seating and pressure management with inpatients as part of skin integrity management.Management of hospital wheelchair inventory, needs and purchase recommendations.Staff ergonomic assessments, participation in related projects and committees as required.Outpatient services – hand therapy.Assorted department management activities including bookings, waitlist, statistics, documentation requirements, answering inquiries, staff meetings.Qualifications:Bachelor degreeB.Sc.
