Consultant / Specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology
The Role : We are seeking motivated and experienced Consultant / Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join a friendly team who exhibit a strong culture of collegiality.
Salary package up to $530,000
Allowance in lieu of private practice of 35%Recruitment and Retention allowance of 20%Professional Development Allowance of up to $16,482 per annumFully maintained vehicle or allowance in lieu up to $258,389 per annumAccess to relocation and accommodationDynamic team environmentAffordable housingThe maternity unit, housing the birthing suite and all inpatient maternity patients for the region, is located at one Hospital, with antenatal and postnatal services offered at both sites.
There are approximately 1000 births annually and staffing includes experienced midwives.
High risk births are managed in conjunction with the other Hospitals in the State, supported by the local endocrinology and diabetic teams.
The unit is supported by a Level 4 Neonatal Unit and an 8 bed Level 4 Intensive Care Unit.
The outreach services are located at picturesque regional centres.
This position will be attractive to highly skilled and motivated medical professionals who view challenges as opportunities and are driven by a passion to improve healthcare in the complex world of modern health systems.
The right applicants will play a key role in developing health care at both patient and system levels.
Fellows of the Australian College for Rural and Remote Medicine and Fellows of the Australian College of General Practitioners with the relevant skills and qualifications are encouraged to apply.
The DoH offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School.
As such, you will be responsible for providing leadership and help with the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program.
The Service : The health service has the main acute 160 bed teaching Hospital (with a rural clinical school attached) and a 70 bed Private Hospital, the other acute Hospital is located a short distance away and has 130 beds.
A busy rural regional hospital with a diverse spread of surgical procedures performed including ENT, Orthopaedic Surgery, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dental Surgery, Endoscopy, Ophthalmology, ECT and a limited amount of Paediatric Surgery.
The Location : Located in a beautiful seaport city with a population of 20,000 people, this region is unspoilt and within easy drive of rugged mountains, spectacular wilderness, and sparkling highland lakes.
Unpolluted coastal seas and rich fertile soils enable local produce to be some of the world's finest foods.

Skills & Qualifications required : Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.
