Want to be part of the team building the finest property, casualty and specialty lines insurance company in the world?Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Claims professional with experience in Heavy Motor and/or Contractor's Plant & Equipment. The role reports to the Claims Manager, CP&E (Inland Marine) and is based in our Sydney office.We are seeking an individual who is intelligent, passionate and who is always striving towards excellence. This role will be a great opportunity for an experienced Claims professional to expand their scope of experience in a highly collaborative team environment dedicated to providing best in class claims service.Duties & Responsibilities:Managing a portfolio of mobile plant and equipment claims in accordance with BHSI Claims Service Standards, which ensure the highest level of customer service.Undertaking an investigation of each claim which includes assessing policy coverage, claims reserving and identify and pursue recovery opportunities.Provide high levels of customer service with clear communication to insureds and brokers with a proactive approach to achieving strong results for insureds.Appoint and liaise with third party providers including surveyors, adjusters and law firms when required.Work closely with underwriters, actuaries, and other areas of the business to report on claim developments and trends and support the delivery of BHSI's plans, goals, and objectives.Assist the broader Marine team with claims in other fields, including pleasure craft and cargo.Occasional travel to client / broker meetings, mediations, conferences, and other industry events. Qualifications, Skills and Experience:Minimum 2 years claims experience in plant, equipment, or heavy motor claims, in the commercial space.Knowledge of the claims handling standards per the General Insurance Code of Practice.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.BHSI Offers:A competitive package and exciting growth opportunities for career-oriented teammates.A liberating, fast-paced culture, centered on always doing the right thing for our customers, teammates and our business.A purposely non-bureaucratic organization that embraces simplicity over complexity and emphasizes individual excellence in a team framework.NOTE: Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
