With a culturally diverse campus life and extensive international exchange and research programs, UTS prepares graduates for the workplaces of today and tomorrow.About the TeamThe term 'Advancement' refers to a strategic, integrated method of managing relationships to increase financial investment, engagement, understanding and support among the Advancement community which includes UTS Advancement staff, donors, alumni, friends, Friends of Distinction (FODs) and UTS staff who are engaged in and support Advancement activity.The role of the UTS Advancement and Alumni Unit (AAU) is to build philanthropic support for the university's strategic priorities through sustained and mutually beneficial relationships with individuals, the community, corporates, trusts and foundations. Additionally, the AAU is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with over 280,000 alumni of UTS through a program of engagement, communications, events and services.About the RoleThis is a broad-banded position, spanning two classification levels.The Philanthropic Awards Manager will act as the strategic lead of a centrally based donor funded Philanthropic Awards Program at UTS. This role will proactively and better align philanthropic opportunities across the university with a keen focus on pan university priorities balanced with local faculty needs and interests. The role will lead the development, implementation and continual refinement of a University wide philanthropic Awards strategy with the aim of creating and fostering a unified UTS approach. Nurturing and cultivating valuable relationships with current and new major donors and generating philanthropic revenue will be vital for success in this role. The position will manage and develop a team of early career fundraisers to support the strategy.If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for:Supporting the PVC AA in developing a revenue-generating strategy for the Awards program and implement it through defined milestones with regular progress reporting.Overseeing a team of early-career fundraisers, guiding them in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting potential donors.Leading the implementation and ongoing refinement of a university-wide philanthropic Awards strategy.Developing and maintaining the infrastructure for philanthropic awards, ensuring standardized conditions, adherence to policies, and best practices based on current trends in philanthropy.Establishing systems to monitor, evaluate, and report on awards, and design improved business processes while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.Building and maintaining a sustainable portfolio of prospective and current donors, qualifying and cultivating relationships to increase contributions through compelling proposals.Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to implement initiatives that enhance philanthropic revenue and meet award targets.With examples, please outline within your Cover Letter, how you meet the following key selection criteria:Proven ability to identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects, with a track record of closing five-six figure gifts.Demonstrated ability to build positive and collaborative relationships with colleagues at all levels, and within a wide variety of disciplines.Strong project management skills, including the ability to initiate projects, work independently and flexibly, build consensus among team members, manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines.Demonstrated ability to lead, execute and measure a strategic plan.Success in managing and developing a team of early career fundraisers.Base Salary Range: $115,265 to $140,880 pa (HEW 8/9)This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
