The Community Engagement and Development Officer (CEDO) is part of the headspace Tamworth team.
Being guided by headspace framework and working within headspace scope of practice, their purpose includes and is not limited to: creatively and strongly promoting the services of headspace and undertaking community awareness programs including through social media, events, activities, school presentations, and group information sessions; assisting young people to get early access to health and other services; facilitating youth and family/carer participation; effectively engaging with other agencies/services and assisting with relevant education and training for young people.
Community Engagement and Development Officer's Role Includes:
Creatively and strongly promoting the services of headspace.
Undertaking community awareness programs including through social media, events, activities, school presentations, and group information sessions.
Assisting young people to get early access to health and other services.
Facilitating youth and family/carer participation.
Effectively engaging with other agencies/services and assisting with relevant education and training for young people.

headspace Tamworth is one of 163 headspace Centres in Australia. We support young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health), alcohol and other drug services, as well as work and study support. This position operates under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.

About The Role
Working as part of our team, some key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and review of annual Community Engagement Plans in consultation with the Youth Reference Group, the headspace Tamworth Management Team, and key stakeholders.
Lead the development, organisation, and delivery of highly professional relevant community events and activities including and not limited to local headspace promotion events for Youth Week, Mental Health Week, cultural days of significance, and national headspace campaigns.
Liaise closely with relevant members of the local headspace team, headspace National, and local schools, especially schools with students aged 12 years and older, to develop and deliver health promotion sessions tailored to the needs of the school population.
Recruit, train, coordinate, supervise, and support young people to be involved in the headspace Youth Reference Group (YRG), so they can advise on, inform, and drive key projects and improvements within the service.

About Our Perfect Candidate

Strong demonstrated ability to develop and implement Annual Community Engagement Plans and to plan and manage events. This includes the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities using strong time management and coordination skills while staying highly motivated with minimal supervision and operating within budget.
Strong ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders and to build and maintain effective partnerships and networks.
Excellent written, interpersonal, presentation, and teamwork skills and emotional intelligence.
Strong demonstrated ability to update CEDO sections of the PHN Annual Activity Plan.
Skills and experience to create quality marketing products and presentations using software such as PowerPoint, Canva, and InDesign while meeting branding requirements.
Strong Microsoft Office and other computer software skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and social media.
Strong commitment to quality improvement and ability to meet high professional standards with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated understanding of the challenges of young people from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal people, LGBTQIA+, and people with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
Current NSW drivers licence, ability and willingness to drive, travel, and work outside of regular business hours as part of standard weekly hours of work.
Current Working with Children's Check and Police Record Check, or the ability to obtain.
