Are you an experienced Mine Closure Engineer ready to take on new challenges and work with a dynamic, growing team of mining professionals? We are supporting a leading, employee-owned engineering and environmental consultancy with a strong national presence. Our client is renowned for delivering innovative, practical solutions across water infrastructure design, flood management, civil and geotechnical design, and environmental management, including closure and remediation projects.
With a passionate team dedicated to high-impact projects, they are expanding their Closure and Remediation team, which currently includes 12 professionals across Queensland and Western Australia. This expansion is due to an exciting pipeline of work, and they are looking for a talented Mine Closure Engineer to join their team and drive success.
Your Role As a Mine Closure Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality closure solutions for a diverse range of mining clients—from emerging miners to global operators. You will:
Lead the development and management of mine closure plans, designs, and cost estimates.Work alongside a national network of closure practitioners, including engineers, environmental scientists, and planners, to execute strategies for Closure and Remediation.Drive engineering design activities, including landform design, slope stability analysis, tailings cover design, and surface water management.Contribute to project lifecycle studies, ensuring the integration of technical designs from conceptual stages through to final delivery.Develop regulatory documentation and mine closure plans that meet industry best practices, client specifications, and compliance standards.Participate in site visits to client locations as needed to ensure project alignment and execution.Engage in business development and client relationship management to drive new opportunities and strengthen long-term partnerships.What You'll Bring To thrive in this role, you will need:
A tertiary degree in engineering (Civil, Mining, Environmental, or a related field), with solid experience in mine closure planning and/or engineering design in mining contexts.Strong knowledge of mine closure principles and asset transition, with a genuine career interest in this discipline.Experience in closure cost estimation or civil execution works (this will be highly regarded).Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented mindset and a track record of managing projects from concept to delivery.A collaborative spirit, with the ability to work within diverse teams to solve complex challenges.Business acumen, with demonstrated success in building client relationships and identifying new growth opportunities.Why You Should Apply This is a rare opportunity to join a growing and entrepreneurial team working on high-impact, sustainable mining projects.
