This opens up a world of possibilities for our clients – and also opens up a host of career opportunities for youOur growing family of services at EverAbility Group include:VisAbility- our specialised service supporting people with blindness or vision impairment.Guide Dogs WA and Guide Dogs Tasmania– our iconic service raising and training life changing assistance dogs.Kites Children's Therapy– our early intervention support, advice and solutions service transforming the lives of children and their families living with disability or developmental challenges.Perron Place- our innovative and collaborative community centre.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team on a part time basis, 4 days per week, 12 month fixed term. In this role, you will work with clients to assess, intervene, and evaluate their orientation and mobility needs, ensuring they achieve safe and independent travel. You will also provide information, prescription, and training in mobility aids/devices, and collaborate with families, carers, and service providers to achieve positive outcomes.Provide assessment, intervention and evaluation in the areas of orientation and mobility for allocated caseload.Provide information, prescription and training in mobility aids/devices to support safe and independent travel.Achieve positive client outcomes through working within a team-approach and effective communication with families, carers and service providers.Provide information and support to families, professionals and other relevant individuals to support capacity-building.Provide support in the planning and delivery of group programs including VisAbility's holiday program.Maintain confidential client case notes, reports and information within the Client Management System.Actively seek information from VisAbility's Process Mapping System and contribute to the creation and ongoing improvement of VisAbility's processes through providing input, feedback and suggestions.Work to improve the effectiveness of service delivery by managing issues and making recommendations, where required.Support training and development initiatives of the organisation and the profession.Minimum RequirementsTertiary Qualification in Orientation and Mobility.Certification of Orientation and Mobility Specialists (COMS).Demonstrated experience in providing orientation and mobility services to a diverse caseload.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Sound computer and report writing skills.Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.Ability to travel to client appointments and other locations as needed in a timely manner.Hold or be willing to obtain National Police Check, NDIS check, Working with Children check (WWC), valid driver's licence and annual flu vaccination.Benefits:Free onsite parking and close to public transport (across the road from Victoria Park Train Station).Enjoy up to 3 days of paid leave during the Christmas and New Year holidaysFree access to our gym.Ongoing professional development and training.Employee Assistance Program.NFP salary packaging options – use some of your salary for everyday expenses before income tax; meaning you can increase your take-home payHow to apply?If you're ready to help us, make a difference, click Apply and let's chat about what life looks like at EverAbility.Applications close 4pm, Wednesday 11 December 2024, however, please be aware that we may commence interviewing of candidates prior to the closing date.For further information please contact Kirsty McAullay by email - ****** encourage people with disability and of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background to apply.
