The Role – Rare Career Opportunity Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager will take a strong leadership role in guiding the Work Health and Safety program for ChemSupply Australia, ensuring that strategic outcomes are achieved with professionalism and dedication.
This role requires a leader who can inspire, engage, and support the business at all levels, effectively taking them on a journey to foster a culture of safety.
The WHS Manager will collaborate with leaders, employees, and stakeholders to design and implement comprehensive WHS programs that promote a 'safety first' mindset.
Strong leadership skills are essential to ensure not only compliance but also the continuous development of a safety-conscious and accountable workforce.
Key Responsibilities Provide leadership in WHS by developing and implementing a strong safety culture program.
Design, implement, and evaluate WHS programs that exceed compliance requirements.
Ensure the safe handling, storage, disposal and use of hazardous chemicals.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of WHS legislation and ensure internal frameworks align with regulatory requirements.
Continuously monitor and improve safety performance, processes, and training.
Conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
Oversee risk assessments and develop proactive strategies to manage workplace hazards.
Manage emergency response planning, including drills, spill management, and first aid.
Collaborate with leadership teams to support WHS best practices and return-to-work programs.
Deliver ongoing training and mentoring at all levels on safety and compliance.
About the Candidate The successful candidate will bring a proactive, solutions-driven approach to WHS management, underpinned by strong leadership and communication.
You will be an influential leader, able to advise and inspire teams to prioritise safety and embed a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.
The successful candidate will possess the following attributes: Essential Attributes Qualifications and experience in safety, regulatory compliance, product compliance and risk management, ideally within the chemical manufacturing or a related process industry.
Demonstrated ability to lead and embed a strong safety culture within an organisation.
Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a systems-based approach to safety.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
A collaborative and team-focused mindset, coupled with a commitment to delivering excellence.
Desirable Attributes Graduate qualifications in chemical engineering, WHS, or a related discipline.
Certifications such as Cert III or IV, along with experience in workplace training.
Experience and knowledge in project management are highly valued.
Familiarity with ISO45001 Health & Safety Management Systems is advantageous but not essential.
