Personal Care Worker - Emotional Support Our Lady Of Consolation Aged Care & Services is a proud and independent Not-For-Profit organisation housing up to 300 elderly residents based in Rooty Hill in Sydney's Western Suburbs.
We also provide home care services to up to 2000 elderly residents across the Sydney Metro Region assisting them to remain in their homes for longer.
Our focus is on helping the elderly to be as active and able as they can be, regardless of their underlying health conditions.
The Role You will be focused on providing one-on-one emotional, social, and psychological support to residents in the facility.
Your aim will be to enhance residents' quality of life by promoting mental and emotional well-being, reduce social isolation, and fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.
This position will require you to be available from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities: Build relationships and provide emotional support, and promote social engagement to reduce feelings of isolation Supportive listening by creating a safe and confidential space for residents to express their emotions and concerns Advocating for the residents' emotional needs and providing immediate emotional support during critical moments through crisis intervention Acting as a liaison between the residents, their family members, and OLOC staff to ensure residents are wholistically supported in the best possible way Compassion, empathy, sensitivity, and refined listening skills Able to quickly adapt your work practices to a range of personalities, cultures, and beliefs Knowledge of mental health, dementia, aging and its impact on overall resident wellbeing Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Please note the successful applicant must be willing to undergo a Criminal History Check and have three (3) Covid vaccinations documented by the time of commencement.
