We specialize in delivering innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.Weir is looking for a talented individual to join our team to create new 3D pattern and corebox CAD models.
You will also be responsible for creating new CNC programs and managing updates of existing programs to ensure compliance with released drawings from Engineering.As part of the role, the selected candidate will be responsible for producing detailed pattern build-up models and templates to assist in the efficient creation of the timber preforms for machining on the 5-axis CNC router.Lastly, a key aspect of this role is to mentor our patternmakers and apprentices in CAD modeling and CNC programming to ensure knowledge is shared at the shop floor level.Key Responsibilities:Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.Generation of 3D CAD models of patterns and coreboxes, designed to be safe for use in a foundry metal casting environment.Generation of 3D slice models for transfer to 3D printers.Generation of G-code programs for transfer to CNC router machining procedural techniques and detailed machining methods.Designing and publishing timber preform templates.Ensuring all patterns are of the correct dimensions and to the latest revision.Effective management of pattern model library within Teamcenter environment.Creation of 2D CAD drawings for foundry-specific jigs and fixtures.Job Knowledge / Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years CAD & CNC programming modeling experience.Recognized tertiary qualifications (Patternmaker / Machinist / CNC Programmer).Sound knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practices.Understanding of mechanical design principles.Experience with timber construction methods.Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.Why choose Weir:Be part of a global organization dedicated to building a better future.
