Psychologist - Cobham Youth Justice Centre Location: St Marys, Sydney NSW
Employment Type: Casual/Vacation, Full time
Salary: $74,302 - $130,530 pa/pro rata, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
Roles Available: 1 x Temporary, Full time up to December 2025 1 x Temporary, Full time from February 2025 to August 2025 (part time work/share arrangements can be considered, with possibility of extension for both roles) The Department of Communities and Justice acknowledges lived experience and encourages applications from people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Your Role: Youth Justice is looking for an innovative and dynamic Psychologist to service their Custodial Centre based in St Marys.
You will operate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering psychological assessment, intervention, and therapeutic services.
What You'll Do: Undertake psychological assessment, intervention, and deliver therapeutic services or programs to young people who offend, including those who sexually offend. Assist in the formulation and review of individual Risk-Needs-Responsivity based case plans for the management and supervision of young people on remand or sentenced to a custodial or community order. Deliver training to staff, including Youth Justice Caseworkers, in the screening, identification, and support of young people with mental health problems, intellectual disability, or cognitive impairment. Maintain confidential documentation, including electronic Case Notes on the Client Information Management System, in accordance with departmental policies, APS guidelines on record keeping, and professional ethics. Prepare reports, advice, and consultation to statutory authorities such as Children's Courts, the Serious Young Offenders Review Panel, State Parole Authority, and Mental Health Review Tribunal. Be dynamic and able to think on your feet, responsive to individual needs and situations. What We're Looking For: Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychology. Current provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. A current Drivers' Licence with ability and willingness to travel throughout NSW.
