Opportunity to join Westpac or continue your career in the GroupEstablished career path and progression opportunitiesSydney Based (flexible arrangements on offer)How will I Help?The Senior Manager Operational Risk will provide appropriate oversight of the risk management framework, policies and controls across the Mortgages Line of Business as well as providing independent oversight over the project and change agenda in Mortgages LOB and the effectiveness of delivery and delivered risk management.In this role you will support the Executive Manager and Head Of (Mortgages Risk) in building and maintaining a high performing Operational Risk team.
You will accomplish this by leading deep dives into incidents and near misses and providing specialist advice and guidance from these reviews and ensuring that the correct evidencing and documenting of Risk oversight, insight and control is being completed to provide assurance this is being carried out appropriately, along with independent challenge as required.You will contribute through giving the business insights into emerging risks and lessons learnt from internal and external case studies of incidents, near misses or risk and compliance strategies being implemented and providing specialist, outcome-focused risk and control advice, insight, oversight and challenge that influence decisions, optimise risk-reward balance and contribute to the attainment of business strategy and objectives.Additional responsibilities include:Providing an independent (2nd Line) view of the efficiency of Mortgages LOB risk management practices and execution against the Risk Management Framework, providing challenge where required.Advise the business on how to identify, monitor, measure and handle existing and emerging risks.Support Risk leaders in supervising the efficiency of business risk practices, highlight gaps and risks outside appetite and advance as necessary.Assist business divisions in driving a risk aware culture, where risk is built into business decisions.Provide independent oversight and challenge over the efficiency of delivery and delivered risk management through projects and business change initiatives.Provide the business with specialist, outcome-focussed risk advice and insights that influence decisions, optimise risk/reward balance and assist it to achieve its objectives, within risk appetite and legal parameters.Share solutions, insights advice and recommendations from lessons learnt and potential risk impacts discussed internally and from external developments.Support deep dive reviews of incidents and near misses to identify root cause to support remediation.What do I need?The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Operational Risk / Compliance Advisory, Risk Management or Compliance.
Mortgages experience is also advantageous.
You will have the ability to form relationships and work as a part of a team.
You will be proactive, organised and outcomes focussed with a strong customer centric approach.
