This position will work with students to ensure that they can successfully engage and participate in their education through classroom and other school-based activities.
The successful applicant will be skilled in a variety of therapies and behavioral-based interventions to effectively support students.
Along with the ability to manage a caseload of students, you will possess highly effective collaboration skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders, i.e., Child protection, tertiary services, Youth Justice, and other mental health community services.An important aspect of this role is the ability to identify sensory processing and/or sensory modulation difficulties and to create class implementation plans for teachers to respond to.
Other duties include teaching emotional regulation skills to students and facilitating social skills training and communication skills training (individual and groups).About youMinimum of tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registrationSound knowledge of current theory and practice in occupational therapyHighly developed listening and communication skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to manage own workload and set priorities without supervisionKnowledge of typical and atypical childhood developmentCapacity to engage and form positive relationships with children, particularly children with developmental differences.What's in it for you?EACH is the lead agency for headspace.
