If you feel we're the place for you, then join us and help us make a differencePosition SummaryAs a Convo Australia At Home Virtual Video Interpreter, you will maintain Convo Australia's standard for excellence in interpretation by handling VRI assignments in an ethical manner to the utmost essence of interpreting professionalism.ResponsibilitiesProvide a high-quality Auslan-English interpreting experience for all partiesDemonstrate strict adherence to industry-wide and professional ethics at all timesObserve Convo's internal policies and procedures at all timesContribute to the development, high morale, and positive culture of the companyMaintain a friendly, professional appearance in accordance with internal guidelinesDemonstrate a continuous commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and reliabilityOther duties as assignedRequired Skills & QualificationsHigh competence in Auslan and spoken EnglishAt least three years of full-time or equivalent part-time/casual experience in professional Auslan-English interpreting, whether in a business, community, or VRI contextCurrent ASLIA membership is preferableMust have experience, knowledge, and skills necessary to interpret from home over video and telephoneStrong interpersonal skills in all settingsUnderstanding of and willingness to keep up with video technology, trends, and issuesAbility and confidence to succeed both independently and in team settingsBasic knowledge of computer technologyRecent computer (3 years old or less with latest OS) with a minimum of Intel Core i5 processor (or equivalent)Minimum 8 GB RAM of memoryAt least 5GB of storage space with 40% of free space availableHigh definition quality external webcam (720p minimum, e.g.
Logitech C930e)Dedicated High-Speed Internet access via ethernet connection with minimum 10mbps up/download speedScreen monitor with a minimum size of 21 inchesHigh-quality headset or Jabra wired speakerThe position may require flexibility to take on additional shifts when requiredTraining will be required as part of onboardingBackground and police checks will be required as part of onboardingYour computer and internet connection may be assessed as part of the interview process to ensure suitabilityFollowing a successful interview, you will be invited to participate in a video assessment task to review the suitability of your Auslan and English interpretation skillsApplicants must be at least 18 years old, and be an Australian citizen or resident, or hold a valid work visaCompany OverviewConvo Australia was established in April 2021 as part of the Convo Global family, with the goal of bringing a new choice for Deaf and hard of hearing Australians to access Auslan interpreting services anytime, anywhere.
