Our client in the government sector seeks a Senior Accountant to be based out of their office in Melbourne CBD Hybrid: Flexible work options 4 - 5 months contract Opportunity to contribute to positive workplace culture About the Role As a Senior Accountant , you'll play a pivotal role in providing financial oversight and expert advice to support organisational decision-making.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll ensure compliance with accounting standards, legislative requirements, and the Victorian Government's Financial Management Compliance Framework.
Key Responsibilities Lead financial reporting activities, including annual and mid-year reports.
Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers, overseeing accruals, prepayments, and cost allocations.
Ensure tax compliance, including preparing and lodging GST and FBT returns.
Provide financial insights to inform strategic decision-making.
Support a positive team culture aligned with EPA values.
Represent the organisation positively, building strong partnerships with stakeholders.
What We're Looking For Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accreditation would be advantageous.
Significant experience in financial accounting, preferably in the government sector.
Skills and Attributes Proficiency in Technology One and knowledge of the Financial Management Act 1994 preferred.
Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering collaboration across teams.
