About the Role The Coordinator is the Leader of Learning of Health and Physical Education (HPE) and supervises the Years 7 to 12 curriculum and is responsible for leading the HPE faculty staff and students.
They receive assistance from the Administrative Sports Facilitator to facilitate sporting opportunities for students and lead curriculum development and implementation.
This role ensures the HPE Faculty are focused on continuous learning and are compliant with curriculum requirements to meet the needs of students.
The Coordinator of Health and Physical Education holds delegated responsibility for the Leadership, development and administration excellence of HPE Curriculum and sporting events.
Key Responsibilities Oversee the development of a dynamic curriculum in line with national and state requirements, CE System Catalyst priorities, the use of High Impact Teaching Strategies, and whole school goals. Support the implementation of the College's Annual and Strategic Plans in collaboration with the Leadership of the College. Communicate with Faculty staff about all College initiatives and directions, positively promoting and facilitating their implementation. Oversee and support co-curricular sporting opportunities. Work with staff to ensure parents are given opportunities to participate as real partners in their child's education and provide timely follow-up with parents, students, and other staff on issues related to student learning. Qualifications Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching.
Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP). Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) accreditation. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Desirable) Certificate III in Fitness (Desirable) Selection Criteria A comprehensive understanding of Catalyst initiatives and High Impact Teaching Practices and the need to provide appropriate support and feedback to teaching staff. A thorough knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and ACT BSSS courses with the ability to organise, select and design content for effective teaching and learning within the classroom and across the school. Demonstrated capability to coordinate a teaching team effectively, to supervise staff across different subject areas, to promote their own and the department's professional development and to work with the staff to effect change. Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills.
This includes high-level mediation and conflict resolution skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to build community. The ability to exercise sound judgment, including dealing with confidential matters.
