The Curriculum Writing unit is responsible for providing curriculum and assessment leadership that enables the department to achieve high-quality training outcomes for their staff and volunteers, whilst ensuring that all learning and education is linked to operational capability and future requirements.
The team contributes to the review and development of quality training products, services and systems that provide a holistic and specialised approach to curriculum design and flexible learning material to meet the requirements of each capability stream across the department and will enable trainers and assessors to effectively deliver quality learning and development activities.
Purpose of the roleReporting to the Manager, you will apply instructional design principles and models and work with subject matter experts to design, develop and review suitable and interactive content using online learning platforms, such as Articulate storyboard, templates, audio/video, training activities, learner assessment and digital assets to build engaging e-learning courses.
You will collaborate with the digital deployment team and provide advice, consultation, needs analysis, curriculum and instructional design to enhance flexible learning products and resources, ensuring all curricula remain relevant and contemporary, meet stakeholder objectives, and comply with current industry best practice and frameworks.
Key requirementsHold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or accredited tertiary qualification in adult education or can obtain the skill within a mutually agreed timeframe.Knowledge or experience working in a quality assurance role within a Registered Training Organisation environment.Knowledge and experience in instructional design, and the development of both paper-based and digital learning experiences and resources.Experience with eLearning systems (e.g.
Articulate and/or Accelerate), tools and methods to enhance learning experiences.Your key accountabilitiesYour part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
Design, develop, and review a range of flexible education and training curriculum for instructors and online programs, including resources in support of a contemporary training framework, ensuring compliance with industry and organisational best practice guidelines.Evaluate, test, and review produced flexible learning and training material to ensure products deliver an engaging and interactive learning experience and are free from factual and grammatical errors.Work with subject matter experts and curriculum writers, and provide an instructional design service, applying contemporary adult education principles and methodologies to deliver effective and flexible instruction design solutions and resources.Design and develop interactive training products and content using contemporary eLearning authoring tools and undertake quality and compliance checks in line with procedures and design specifications.Maintain awareness of emerging instructional technologies and make recommendations for continuous improvement to ensure learning resources meet industry competency standards and offer best learning experience for staff and volunteers.Develop and design high-quality curriculum products that meet the department's capability owner requirements, align with training and assessment standards, and meet legislative and departmental compliance.Liaise, consult, and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders regarding initiatives impacting the design of flexible learning materials and delivery of programs.Provide a project-based approach to product development to enable documenting, tracking, and reporting of the development cycle, ensuring quality outputs are delivered within approved timeframes.CapabilitiesTo determine your suitability for the role, you will be assessed on the following Leadership Competencies for Queensland behavioural profiles that link to the "key accountabilities" for this role:
