Permanent 0.5 FTE Staff Specialist
Obstetrics & Gynaecology Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above positions (part time or full time) in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
The positions will be located at Westmead and Auburn Hospitals within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
The successful applicants will hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RANZCOG) or equivalent.
They will have broad experience across obstetrics and gynaecology at a tertiary centre, above average clinical skills and judgement, and superior interpersonal skills.
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship 6 within months of the planned commencement date for the positions may be considered.
If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.
Selection Criteria Must possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:High level of obstetrics and gynaecology experience in a large, complex tertiary service.Significant experience in the care of women from diverse cultures and backgrounds.Excellent clinical judgement and ability to manage multiple complex cases simultaneously.Laparoscopy Level 3 surgical skills as per RANZCOG definition.Obstetric ultrasound skills above the level of the generalist O&G specialist.Support for planned vaginal breech birth under selected circumstances.Contribution to a positive workplace culture and engagement in Clinical Governance activities.Occasional leave relief to other consultants as required.Capability to provide safe, high-quality O&G care to women of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.Participation in supervisory, support, and mentorship roles for Junior Medical Officers.Familiarity with research concepts and involvement in departmental research output.Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently.Aptitude for clinical leadership evidenced by:Systems thinking and risk-taking aptitude.Commitment to self-care and personal development.Capacity to maintain personal integrity, tolerate stress, and demonstrate resilience.Commitment to building relationships and developing others.Results and outcome focused.Commitment to good governance, achieving results, and managing risks.Commitment to Education, Training, and Research, as applicable to the position.Working with Children Check Applicants must provide evidence of a Working with Children Check issued by the Office of Communities Commission for Children and Young People.
