Location Profile Lalor North Primary School leads Victoria in Bilingual Education with two Bilingual Programs: the Greek Bilingual Program established in 1977 and the Macedonian Program established in 1984. This position requires the applicant to be fluent in the Macedonian language, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Lalor North Primary School was established in 1971 and is situated in the North Western Victoria Region, with a diverse student population of 300 from multicultural backgrounds. A comprehensive curriculum is offered from Prep to Year Six based on the Victorian Curriculum, emphasizing differentiation to meet all student learning needs.
The school offers three curriculum programs: The Standard Curriculum Program, The Greek Bilingual Curriculum Program, and The Macedonian Bilingual Curriculum Program. Both bilingual programs enjoy tremendous support from local communities and are internationally recognized by the governments of Greece and Northern Macedonia.
Approximately 65% of our students have a language background other than English, and we celebrate the linguistic, cultural, and social diversity of our community. Our students speak many languages, including Mandarin, Khmer, Gujarati, and Arabic, among others. The school also accommodates overseas students and provides appropriate support for their language needs.
Our staff is highly experienced, dedicated, and stable, with 42 staff members in 2024, including teachers, Education Support Staff, and administration. We collaborate to design rich learning opportunities and significant events throughout the school year.

Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills and respond to student learning needs.
SC2: Experience in planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, evaluating the impact on student learning growth.
SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback to students and parents.
SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader community.
SC5: Behaviors and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning to improve teaching quality.
Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students.
Range 2 classroom teachers play a significant role in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to school policies and priorities. They are expected to model exemplary practice, mentor other teachers, provide expert advice, and assist staff in using student data to inform teaching approaches.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills and competencies with structured support, teaching a range of students/classes, and participating in policy development and project teams.
Responsibilities The role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students; Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum area; Undertaking other classroom-related and organizational duties as determined by the School Principal; Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions; Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
