You will never be bored…at work or at play.About the position:This role will be responsible for leading, supervising, and providing ongoing training and support to our nursing team.
We are looking for a nurse with leadership qualities who is seeking a dynamic role, working closely with the clinic coordinator.
This nurse will be required to work a mixture of clinical and administrative shifts throughout the week.Undertaking general nursing tasks, including pre- and post-operative care, animal pathology, emergency, critical care, and reception roles.Managing a team of 10 nurses.Mentoring and supervising trainee nurses and assisting them with their course requirements.Disciplining and providing training and direction to the nursing team when needed.Responsibility for roster changes when staff are sick.Availability after hours to facilitate any urgent clinic needs such as roster alterations or other nursing issues.Flexibility in days worked to cover any urgent shifts.Assisting with day-to-day running and workflow of the hospital including directing vets and nurses.About you:Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience (Vet Tech, Cert IV or equivalent).Outstanding customer service and communication skills.Proficiency in all aspects of veterinary nursing, including dental procedures, anaesthesia, x-rays, IV catheter placement, pathology, fluid therapy, intubations, critical care monitoring, and nurse consults.Solid knowledge of digital X-ray, IDEXX Catalyst, ProCyte Dx, Sedivue, dental and endoscope setup.Taking initiative to enhance clinic operations and efficiency.Possessing strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.A calm and friendly presence, guiding and developing the nursing team, building a positive team culture.Flexible and adaptable within a team environment.Previous experience in a senior or head nurse role, ideally with management experience or business insight.Confidence in mentoring and managing nurses and fielding client complaints.Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.Apiam Perks and Benefits:Generous clinic discounts for your own fur babies.VNCA membership paid for and AVNAT registration encouraged.Access to VetEducation as ongoing CE and upskilling is supported and encouraged.Access to paid Volunteer Leave, extra Parental Leave, and Apiam Wellness Day - an extra day of annual leaveDiscounts from various retail, travel, fitness, and health providers (including Kmart and Woolworths
