Paper Conservator PositionThe Paper Conservator is responsible for a wide range of conservation projects including treatments on archival and library material, maps, plans, posters, photographs, wallpaper in historic buildings, documents, books, and artworks in many forms.
We have an opening for a Paper Conservator to join ICS Melbourne, starting in February 2025.
Based at our Burwood labs, you will have the opportunity to undertake hands-on conservation treatments combined with project management of a wide variety of lab-based projects.
Some site work will also feature.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and level of appointment in the range of $76,728 – $82,848 plus 12% superannuation.
This full-time position is available in February 2025.
International Conservation Services (ICS) is Australia's largest private conservation practice.
We conserve a wide range of cultural and heritage objects and artefacts including paintings, furniture, textiles, paper, sculpture, archaeological artefacts, and wall finishes in buildings. The role The work includes treatments on archival and library material, maps, plans, posters, photographs, wallpaper in historic buildings, documents, books, and artworks in many forms, e.g., watercolours, gouache, prints, pastels, ink, pencil, and oil on paper, and mixed media works.
Treatments may range from routine cleaning and stabilisation to executing complex treatments on both contemporary and historical works.
Day-to-day activities include developing conservation methodologies in collaboration with team members, quoting and undertaking all technical aspects of conservation.
Other responsibilities may include project planning and implementation, job budget management, time management, subcontractor liaison, disaster response, writing project reports, and supporting and guiding other team members.
