In this role as Traditional Owner Engagement Advisor , you will work closely with the Manager, Heritage and Traditional Owner Engagement and various engagement teams across the enterprise to plan and execute initiatives to engage Traditional Owner audiences.
You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with relevant First Nations stakeholders and community groups and with internal teams to support the identification and mitigation of stakeholder engagement issues as they relate to Traditional Owner groups.
With a 3/2 Hybrid split Office/ WFH, this role can be based in Southbank and is part of the Community Engagement, Land and Planning team.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
Deliver communications and engagement activities specifically to engage Traditional Owner audiences.
Ensure the delivery of activities and initiatives within AusNet's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) are supported by culturally appropriate communications and engagement.
Proactively identify communications and engagement opportunities associated with AusNet's RAP and other Traditional Owner initiatives.
Support the development and delivery of collateral including factsheets, correspondence and presentations, working with internal stakeholders to obtain input and manage approvals and liaising with external consultants to manage the design and delivery of collateral in line with brand guidelines.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant First Nations stakeholders and community members, ensuring proactive and culturally appropriate engagement.
Support the Heritage and Traditional Owner Engagement Team, and broader CELP team as required, in the development of effective and relevant stakeholder and community messages, responses, etc.

Provide support to the Manager, Heritage and Traditional Owner Engagement and Senior RAP Implementation Advisor as requested.
Record all interactions with stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate stakeholder and community engagement risks.
Monitor and address stakeholder engagement issues.
You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:
Tertiary qualification in communications, Community and Stakeholder Engagement, Government affairs or other relevant discipline IAP2 certificate, or similar experience in local / regional economic development and engagement will be an advantage in this role You will demonstrate 3+ years' experience undertaking or supporting stakeholder engagement/management activities, or performing frontline engagement activities (preferably working in areas such as local government, regional development, community development or large infrastructure development projects) Experience in active engagement and relationship building skills across a range of stakeholder types Strong knowledge of government policy frameworks Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders A commitment to cultural sensitivity and fostering positive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities Familiarity with RAP frameworks A real place to belong
