Job Opportunities The Town of Grafton is seeking an individual to fill the position of Reference Librarian at the Grafton Public Library.
This position is responsible for providing a wide range of services in support of Reference Services operations, under the general supervision of the Head of Reference Services.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Responding to correspondence via phone, email, fax, and/or directing inquiries to the appropriate department.
Responding to reference and reader's advisory questions.
Assisting in collection maintenance for adult materials.
Planning and implementing Reference Services displays and programs.
Using automated circulation systems such as Evergreen and C/W Mars online library catalog.
Shelving, filing, assisting with museum pass and meeting room reservations.
Assisting with outreach.
Enforcing policies established by the Board of Library Trustees.
Qualifications for this position include:
A Master's degree in Library and Information Science or a related field.
One to two years of related experience, or some equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge of library services, practices and information resources, as well as familiarity with online and proprietary databases and shared circulation software is preferred.
Applicants must be able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy.
Proficient written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong customer service skills are required.
This is an 18-hour per week position, with benefits as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement between the Town and the Grafton Public Library Union.
This position has a starting rate of $24.97 per hour.
