Public Sector People are working with a Queensland State Government department who are recruiting an AO8 Executive Manager, Financial Accounting based in Brisbane.
$91.93 per hour plus super On Site Parking Available Contract until June 2025 About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Accounting Manager to lead and manage a team of up to six staff.
This critical role will provide expert financial advice and support to senior leadership, ensuring the financial health and operational capability of the organization.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting: Lead the consolidation of financial data into the parent organization's annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements.
Financial Systems and Processes: Manage systems and processes to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data, general ledger records, and supporting documentation.
Financial Management: Contribute to the implementation of effective financial management reporting systems, internal controls, and assurance frameworks.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislation, and government requirements.
Financial Advice and Analysis: Provide expert financial advice to executive management and finance staff on accounting standards, relevant policies, and taxation issues.
Policy and Procedure Development: Manage the development and maintenance of the organization's Financial Management Practice Manual and financial delegation instruments.
Audit and Compliance: Lead liaison and consultation with relevant audit authorities regarding financial management and financial reporting issues.
Manage the review and actioning of audit findings.
Shared Services: Manage the relationship with shared services providers for the provision of transactional financial services and systems.
Asset Accounting: Manage the delivery of asset accounting services to ensure the timely, accurate, and reliable recording and reporting of the organization's asset base.
Team Leadership and Development: Provide leadership to the team, promote business improvement initiatives, and foster a supportive and productive work environment.
Workplace Culture: Promote a workplace culture of gender equality, respectful relationships, diversity, inclusion, employee safety, and support.
Essential Skills and Experience Proven experience leading a finance team in a complex organization Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Advanced knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, public sector financial management standards, and relevant legislation Strong understanding of financial systems and processes Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines Tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce, or business Membership or eligibility for membership to a professional accounting body (e.g., CPA Australia, CA ANZ) To Apply: Please submit your application via the APPLY button or send your application to ******.
