About Us Western Private Hospital (WPH) is a boutique private hospital servicing the West of Melbourne, with the provision of acute services, which has 62 inpatient beds.
We are fully equipped for a comprehensive range of surgical procedures including general, bariatric, oral max, colorectal, endoscopy, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic, gynaecology, IVF, plastics, vascular and urology, as well as diagnostic and interventional cardiology and high dependency services.
WPHs facilities include four Operating Theatres, CSSD, Day Stay Unit, Day Oncology Unit, Eleanor Overnight Ward for CCU, HDU & Surgical patients, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Specialist Consulting Suites, Nuclear Medicine Department and supported by pathology, pharmacy, radiology and radiation therapy services.

About the Role As the Finance Manager you will oversee the finance function managing a small team to ensure timely and accurate financial information is produced.
Essentially your role is extremely "hands-on" covering everything from AP, AR & Payroll, month-end, year-end processes, fixed asset register, Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss analysis, GST, FBT, PAYG, BAS and reconciliation for consolidated reporting, tax and regulatory compliance reporting; you will work closely with the Board of Management, Director of Nursing and Business Services Manager providing them with extensive support with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management reporting; as well as be required to liaise with WPH's external bankers and accountant.
What you'll be doing (responsibilities include but not limited to): Management of finance team in day-to-day activities (AP/AR, Billings, Payroll) Full responsibility of month-end reporting Leading the annual budget process to build annual budgets for cost centres together with Managers KPI monitoring & reporting, analysis & interpretation of company performance and in depth analysis of performance; budget to actual variance analysis and resolution of unexplained variances Establish, implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls Preparation of year-end financial statements Liaise with external Financers, Accountants, Tax Advisers and Auditors Coordination point for the annual audit and half yearly audit review Ensure statutory compliance requirements of Superannuation, GST, FBT, PAYG, Payroll Tax, ABS etc About You You will have proven experience in a medium-large sized business, have demonstrated initiative, be able to work autonomously and not be afraid to get involved at the "grass roots" accounting level.
You are naturally curious and enjoy learning more about businesses and solving challenges faced through better process and technology, streamlined reporting and improving efficiency.
You are a team player who can bring their expert knowledge to the table to assist the hospital achieve their targets; financial and strategic.
You will have previous managerial experience in overseeing the running of a department including staff training, engagement, reporting and data analysis.
Selection Criteria Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a similar discipline with CA/CPA accreditation Minimum 5 years' experience within a complex business environment – financial / management accounting Previous experience within a hospital or healthcare industry is highly desirable Current working knowledge and application of Australian Accounting Standards Strong understanding of reconciliation processes, audit and control processes Demonstrated experience in cost/revenue/profitability analysis Demonstrated knowledge and experience in processing large volumes of transactional data and skills in capturing, exporting, importing and maintaining information using various software packages Strong commercial and business acumen Ability to complete work and deliver according to project schedules and deadlines Ability to initiate the development of enhancements to financial systems and processes Demonstrated high level management, communication and interpersonal skills Promote team-work and develop positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders Experienced with using Tier 2 / medium sized financial software systems – experience using Business Central 365 &/or Attaché or similar advantageous Advanced computer skills with MS Office programs, including excellent Excel skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, Pivots) Benefits of Working at WPH include: Great Market Competitive Salary Fantastic people and work culture with supportive management Make a difference in this broad role and build your legacy Close proximity to public transport and subsidised car parking Access to a range of health & well-being initiatives, staff discounts and benefits Requirements: Everyone who joins Western Private Hospital – Must be vaccinated against COVID-19, Influenza and provide proof of immunisation against, or immunity to, infectious diseases as required per the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic) – NOTE: for this role immunisation requirements are Risk Category C (minimal patient contact) Must provide a National Police Check conducted within the previous 6 months and evidence of Australian Residency / Full Working Rights (No Sponsorship available) According to the role, WPH may require a Working With Children Check For more information about WPH please visit our website at www.westernprivatehospital.com.au APPLICATIONS CLOSING DATE: 2nd January 2025 (or earlier if position is filled) If this appeals to you, this rare opportunity is not to be missed
